Keep adding two or three events per chapter to your plot line. Do not go beyond Chapter 14 as some students have not finished reading those chapters.
Write these events under assignment #4, highlighting the chapters and adding bullets for the events.
NEW ASSIGNMENT!!!
Look for pictures that reflect how you think each character looks. These can be current or past movie stars, current or past actors and/or actresses, or pictures you draw that reflect the images of the characters.
Create a collage with these pictures, putting the character's name under each picture. You can decide what materials to use for your collage. These will NOT be posted on the WIKI.
Be creative! Have fun with this assignment. It will be interesting to see how everyone pictures each character.
Due date: Wednesday, December 16.

Assignment #2 (to be done in class on Wednesday, December 2)
Put a line between Assignment #1 and Assignment #2.
Read chapter two.
On your student page ABOVE assignment #1, choose one of the following: suspense or foreshadowing.
Find four examples of suspense OR foreshadowing in chapter two.
Write the exact wording from the book - that means type the sentences exactly as they are written.
In a well-written paragraph, explain why these sentences clearly show either suspense or foreshadowing.
Four examples of suspense or foreshadowing in chapter two are on page 31. One example is "Ten little Indian boys went out to dine; One chocked his little self and then there were nine." This quote means one indian ate to much to quick. Another example is "Nine little Indian boys sat up very late; One overslept himself and then there were eight." This quote means a indian slept to late. Also another example is "Eight little Indian boys traveling in Devon; One said he'd stay there and then there were seven." This quote means that when they traveled to Devon the one liked it some much that he decided to make a home there. Finally another example is "Seven little Indian boys chopping up sticks; One chopped himself in halves and then there six." This quote means that when the indian boy chopped himself in halve he died.
These examples clearly show suspense because in these sayings the author of these poems is giving you a clues and other ideas of what is going to happen at the end. The other also is leaving you with cliff hangers at the end of each chapter. Then all of those cliffhangers join together. Which then leads you to the climax at the end of the story which solves every cliffhanger that was in the book.
Ryan-
The poem is a good example of making the story suspenseful. However, that is just one example since the poem is taken as a whole. Keep looking for other examples of events, characters' thoughts or conversations that would reflect suspense. There are lots of them in Chapter 2.
Be sure and follow ALL the directions.

how does a mystery novel differ from a narrative?
A mystery story is different from a narrative story because a mystery story is when an action happens and then it builds up and up until there is a climax. Also a mystery story has a bunch of suspense and cliff hangers. Another thing is that in a mystery story the person that is in it is not explaining what is going on. A narrative story is when the main character explains a story that they are in and everything that is going on in the story. Also ?? Also what?
how might the title be a clue to the story?
A clue in a story could be when the title says the murder of john that would tell you that there is a murder in the story. Also when a story says something like the mystery of the haunted house you would know that the story is a mystery.
Ryan-
Pretty good explanation of the two kinds of stories. Check for punctuation.
